Bono promised a record of celebration rather than lament, one with a defiantly joyful mood and almost a carnival feel, and it arrives as the answer to the band's two 2026 EPs: Days of Ash, released on Ash Wednesday as songs of defiance, dismay and lamentation, and Easter Lily, its more personal and spiritual Good Friday follow-up.
Where "Street of Dreams" threw the doors open, the album's second single, "Silencio", first heard of when Bono mentioned it to fans during the Mexico City video shoot, takes a more intriguing path.
The Spanish title is a telling choice for a band that has so often written about the silences between people, and between a searching soul and God, and it poses the question at the heart of this record:
what does silence sound like on an album built for noise, colour and light?
